Voice in Headphones

I can’t deny that one of the biggest inspirations behind my musical discoveries is the now-legendary David Dean Burkhart and his YouTube channel. That is very much the case with the British duo Harper, who released their six-track EP Her Quiet Weather toward the end of the summer holidays. To be honest, I haven’t had the chance to fully absorb it yet, but the opening track Roadkill is a clear sign that I’ll be returning to the EP very soon – it’s genuinely fantastic.

It’s simple, energetic, and deeply emotive, driven by an irresistibly catchy melody that pulls you in immediately. The production is warm and perfectly balanced, the two voices blend beautifully, the outro evokes the feel of some of Alex G’s earlier work. I think I already know what I’ll be listening to more closely this evening – this EP is long overdue for a proper deep dive!
