This time we’re going all the way back to the very beginning of 2025, when this beautifully delicate and captivating indie-folk track was released by the Bonn-based artist known as Whoeverthatis. Metamorphosis II carries echoes of José González and a touch of Nick Drake, blending intimacy with quiet confidence. It’s impeccably recorded, sensitively performed, and gently sung, and if you’re a fan of understated, modern folk that doesn’t need to shout to make an impact, this song is an excellent choice. In the second half, the arrangement is subtly refreshed by a soft, tasteful synthesizer line that adds depth without breaking the spell. The track radiates an atmosphere much like its single artwork – melancholic, introspective, yet warmly comforting.
The song also appeared on the finely crafted album Still on the Run, which was released in spring 2025.
