As an amateur ornithologist, I have a soft spot for any song or band with a bird in its name, so I didn’t miss “Pigeon Song” by Jeremy Tuplin either. Earlier this October, he released the very solid album Planet Heaven, where “Pigeon Song” appears as track four (I’d also recommend “Late to the Party” or “Stranger in the Garden”).

Tuplin’s songwriting reminds me of a few of my favourites, such as Alex Cameron, Andy Shauf, or Ryder The Eagle — it’s slightly odd in a good way, and at the same time it sounds like you’ve walked into a smoky bar where, at midnight, some cool stranger is playing a somewhat peculiar, yet ultimately breathtaking and unforgettable show.
