Voice in Headphones

I discovered the project Buí about a year or two ago while searching for hidden gems on music blogs, and it was definitely worth finding. I’ve been following it ever since, and this April they released a truly beautiful album, 24. I’m highlighting the opening track, “Wake Up,” which has a nice “Alex G / Race era” vibe — acoustic guitar upfront, a melodic tune, with various guitar licks woven in. Although it came out in April, it still feels very enjoyable to listen to around the turn of the year.

I also have to recommend some of the other songs from this lovely album — “Static” might even be my favorite. It’s driven by a subtle beat and a really warm, comforting melody.
