Milk Knife is a slightly mysterious project led by musician Paige Paiton from Ontario, Hamilton. All I know is that she released a fantastic four-track self-titled EP Milk Knife back in April. I’m particularly drawn to the sound of the acoustic guitar here; paired with the slightly raw, unpolished vocal delivery, it gives off strong Have A Nice Life/Giles Corey vibes. There’s an intimacy and fragility to the recordings that feels both intentional and emotionally resonant. Sadly, the project seems to be almost completely overlooked – at the moment there are just four monthly listeners on Spotify (one of them being me), which really feels like a shame given the quality on display.
